We have our formal ritual aspect of practice which includes chanting daily, and a natural daily practice that develops over time. When you chant and listen deeply to the Dharma, it perfumes the mind and takes root in your heart. You begin to see the teachings around you. After a while, your views and understanding of the world shift in a way that makes you more open and accepting. Our interactions with others also see a positive change. We begin to truly see the benefits of practicing Buddhism as it changes our daily lives. This is the other side of daily practice from the ritual aspect. So, if you’re newer to Buddhism, stay with it, fully immerse yourself in the richness of the teachings, and before long, you will be living the joy that is Buddhism.
